I have always loved plants and animals and the beauty of the outdoors. I remember pressing flowers in books and trying to start plants from cuttings when I could not have been more than 8 years old. I grew up in Los Gatos in the ‘70s and ‘80s and attended Los Gatos schools. At U.C. Berkeley, I was a biology major and seriously considered moving on to get my Ph.D. in plant physiology or in ornithology, partly because of two of my professors and mostly because birds and plant function fascinated me. However, I decided to take some time off of school, worked for a couple of years and made the mistake of going to law school!
Since leaving Los Gatos for school, I have lived in Berkeley, San Francisco, New York City and Seattle. Seattle is where my first child, my daughter, was born and where I started gardening in my own yard. My next-door neighbor, Roberta, inspired me with her beautiful cottage garden, and I spent a lot of time in the drizzle trying to beautify the garden of our rental house with little time and little money! Since then, I have always gardened and studied the process on my own. After we moved back to Los Gatos (when my children were young) I helped people with their yards here and there but was mainly busy being a mom to my two amazing kids. For the last couple of years, however, now that my kids are (mostly) out of the house, I have decided to branch out and I have found that I enjoy the challenges and rewards that come from designing people’s gardens.
I would love the opportunity to help you in whatever way possible and to help you enjoy your garden in a new way!
